Liebe Eltern,
anbei der 4 Newsletter mit folgenden Themen:
- Bericht aus dem Verwaltungsrat der Schule,

Die Nachmittagsbetreuuung in Ottobrunn, "Die Pauker" wird "Tage der offenen Tür" in der Woche vor den Osterferien anbieten. Die Termine sind:
Montag, 26.03.12 von 14:30 - 17:00 Uhr
Mittwoch, 28.03.12 von 14:30 - 17:00 Uhr
Selbstverständlich können interessierte Eltern auch jederzeit einen individuellen Besichtungstermin vereinbaren!
Afternoon Childcare Opportunities
2 additional possibilities for afternoon child care for children of the ESM on short days have are proposed by the parent association. A
limited amount of places is available for ESM children at "Die Pauker"
and "the academy". Both activities will be open for children of from
classes 1 to 5 Primary School.
Transport from the school and lunch will be provided. The children will at the end of the day need to be collected by their parents at the site of the Academy (Candidplatz).
A shuttle to the EPO PH will be organised by the "Die Pauker" from Ottobrunn.
The academy will provide computer courses which will allow to obtain the ECDL (European Computer Driving License) and "Die Pauker" will offer assistance for home work and additional learning support.
The Parents Association will initially handle the registration for both opportunities and in case needed apply a prioritisation of places according to the Rules established for the Garderie.

Important Notification from the PA...
Liebe Eltern,
in einem Treffen mit der Schulleitung am 15.02. haben wir eine Lösung für die Frage der Klassenfotos gefunden. Die Lösung entspricht im Wesentlichen dem Vorschlag der Erziehungsräte der Grundschule. In diesem Jahr wird die Schule ein Klassenfoto aller Grundschulklassen machen. Die Eltern können einen Abzug erwerben, ein Abzug wir der Schule und dem Klassenlehrer zur Verfügung gestellt.
Es wird weder eine elektronische Aufbewahrung, noch Verteilung geben. Eltern die kein Foto möchten, müssen auch keines erwerben. Eltern die nicht möchten, dass ihr Kind auf einem Klassenfoto abgelichtet ist, werden eine diesbezügliche Erklärung abgeben können, sie erhalten dann auch kein Foto.
Für die Folgejahre wird die Schule gemeinsam mit der Elternvereinigung Umfang und Qualität einer ordentlichen Schulfotografie erörtern und organisieren. Hierbei wird die Schule die organisatorische Arbeit vor Ort übernehmen und die Elternvereinigung den Fotografen stellen. Diese Arbeitsteilung erscheint effizient und letztendlich bestimmen dann die Eltern über ihre gewählten Vertreter über Umfang, Qualität und Kosten der Klassenfotos.

Advice from members of the Educational Coucil.If your child is planning to study of any of the following subjects, in particular at a UK or Irish University, please consider advising them to take the Maths 8 module (advanced mathematics) at EB:
Chemistry, Computer Science, Computer Science and Philosophy, Earth Sciences (Geology), Engineering Science; Engineering, Economics and Management (EEM); Materials Science, Materials, Economics and Management (MEM), Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Philosophy, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Physics and Philosophy
Why:
Traditionally, it has consistently been recognized by the French section that Advanced Mathematics (Maths 8) is a pointer to study at a "top" institution, and Maths 8 has consistently been taught as part of the French section EB programe. Many ESM students from different language sections value the opportunity to study in the UK.
Due to increasingly fierce competition to attend UK universities, it is now advisable to seriously consider taking Maths 8, which can be considered analogous to study for Further Mathematics at "A-level as part of the EB qualification.
Feedback from students taking this course at the ESM is that it is well taught and because it can be examined objectively, can give a better prediction and result of the overall EB mark.
Furthermore, the preparation offered by this extra maths can give students an easier start at University as they do not have to "catch up" with their peers.
Finally, the importance of Advanced Mathematics for entry into Irish University has been recognized by the Irish delegation to the Administrative Council of the EPO, which wrote a letter of support for the course Maths 8 to the Director of the European School, Mr Ensing, in 2011.

Canteen report2011 Begrüssungschreiben zum Jahresanfang.
Liebe Eltern,
das neue Schuljahr hat begonnen und wir hoffen, dass Ihre Kinder einen guten Start in der Schule hatten.
Leider fehlen in einigen Klassen noch Lehrkräfte. Die Schule hat sich bemüht diese Lücken zumindest temporär zu schließen. Wir verfolgen die Entwicklung des Lehrermangels mit großer Sorge. Obwohl das Budget der Schule diesbezüglich ausreichend gestaltet ist, dürften Vorgaben aus Brüssel und Bürokratie nun neue Hindernisse sein. Wieso man aber, wie im Kindergarten geschehen, den Vertrag einer langjährigen Assistentin nicht verlängert ohne wenigstens Ersatz zu haben, ist bislang nicht erklärt worden.
Bezüglich Garderie und Nachmittagsbetreuung zeigt sich die Entwicklung sehr erfreulich. Die allermeisten Kinder konnten einen (wenn auch nicht immer den gewünschten) Platz finden. Da es noch Restplätze gibt, melden Sie sich bitte bei uns, falls sie noch einen Platz benötigen.
Der Schülertransport ist angelaufen. Statistisch gibt es deutlich weniger Klagen als in den vergangenen Jahren und es waren auch "nur" 2 Kinder in der ersten Woche im „falschen Bus“. Glücklicherweise konnten beide rasch wiedergefunden werden. Erfahrungsgemäß wird sich die Sache in den nächsten Wochen einspielen. Bislang dürfte jedes berechtigte Kind (leider mit noch immer zwei Ausnahmen) einen Platz in einem Bus bekommen haben. Wir sind sehr bemüht dies zu ändern und die eine oder andere Verbesserung der Routenführung und Optimierung der Abfahrtszeiten zu erreichen. Melden Sie sich bitte wenn sie unzufrieden sind, aber auch wenn Sie den Platz doch nicht benötigen. Er wird dringend von anderen gebraucht und erleichtert für alle optimaler Routen zu finden.
Die Anmeldung und Kurseinteilung zu den Nebenschulaktivitäten laufen auf Hochtouren – Sie werden bald Bescheid bekommen – die Kurse sind wie immer sehr begehrt.
Wir hoffen Sie möglichst zahlreich bei der allgemeinen Versammlung am 27.09.2011 begrüßen zu dürfen!
